You have questions. We have answers. If you have questions beyond the items listed below, please submit an inquiry and we will be happy to get all your questions answered.

How long does therapy take?

There is no one size fits all answer regarding therapy/treatment.  Circumstances are different from person to person as well as progress.  The amount of time it take you, will be dependent on your commitment, the factors that lead your motivation for change, and your personal growth.

How do I get the best results from therapy?

Therapy is based on the willingness to be open and honest. It is also based on your active participation in treatment to get the best results.

What about medication?

Medication works for some clients in conjunction with psychotherapy. Medication alone, does not solve the issue; it only provides a temporary numbness from it. The use of medication is solely based on your decision to add it to your regimen. As the professional, my goal is to get you to a place of using tools to work through and process issues based on your own strength and will.

What population of clients do you treat?

The client population targeted are adult males and female, over the age of twenty-one years of age. We service clients struggling with depression, anxiety, dual diagnosis, trauma, work-life balance stress, and relationship issues. I specialize in servicing LGBTQ clients and clients suffering from bereavement. Children and adolescents are not accepted as clients at this time.

Do you accept insurance?

At this time, only self-pay or sliding scale clients are being serviced. Soon, we will accept Medicaid. Clients receive invoices to submit to their insurance company for reimbursement of therapeutic services.

What methods of payments do you accept?

Payments are accepted in the form of Visa and Mastercard through Square and PayPal. Personal checks and cash are not accepted.

What treatment modality do you use?

The treatment approach used is a combination of person-centered and cognitive behavioral therapy. For clients experiencing anxiety, typically DBT is incorporated. Each client is different, so the approach is tailored for you based on your needs.

Do you offer group therapy?

Yes, group therapy is an option at Healing Bar along with individual therapy, couples therapy, and family therapy. There are four different types of groups to be offered: LGBTQ, Grief, Anxiety and Stress Management, and Work-Life Balance for single parents.

Do you offer face to face sessions?

Majority of sessions are conducted via Telehealth due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. If reasonable accommodation can be made where both the therapist and client can be physically safe, following a signed waiver by the client confirming there has been no exposure to COVID-19 the 14-days prior to their appointment, then an in-person session may be offered. This option only applies to Jacksonville, Florida residents. All other clients will have all sessions conducted virtually.

Am I allowed to bring anyone with me to my appointments?

No other persons are allowed in sessions unless they are a registered client. For couples or family therapy, all persons in attendance to session must be registered, having completed all required documents and payments, and be an adult. Therapy sessions are confidential. Children and/or pets are not allowed during sessions. Virtual sessions hold the same standards as in-person sessions so confidentiality guidelines should be maintained, and sessions should be conducted in a space away from others.
